New headquarters agreement

The Non-Governmental Organization SOS Children's Villages, a social development organization working in 135 countries around the world, has renewed on Thursday, December 20th, 2018, in Cotonou, the headquarters agreement which accredits it in the Republic of Benin. The ceremony dedicated to the event was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
SOS Children's Villages has just signed a new headquarters agreement in Benin, after that of November 18th, 2003. This Thursday, December 20th, 2018 in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Salimane Issifou, National Director of the Organization in Benin, and His Excellency Mr. Hervé Djokpé, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, have initialled the related document. In fact, after having welcomed the assistance, the protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation presented the programme and the two stakeholders designated to sign the agreement: His Excellency Mr Hervé Dadjèdji DJOKPE, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Salimane Issifou, National Director of SOS Children's Villages Benin.



It was first the signing of the agreements, then the exchange of the paraphors. Then, the floor was given to Mr. ISSIFOU to make his speech. In his speech, the National Director returned to the target of the organization SOS Children's Villages in these terms: "at least 220 million children are currently deprived of their parental care or risk losing it, 10 % of the world's population of children. It is these children that SOS Children's Villages International targets in the 135 countries in which our organization operates. Currently, SOS Children's Villages around the world cares for 884,963 children who are cared for by 35,967 employees". Mr. Issifou reviewed the work of the organization in Benin, in particular the 182 children who left the care of replacement and who are for the most part socially and professionally integrated, because they are plumbers, hairdressers, carpenters, entrepreneurs, accountants, university professors, doctors, agronomists, computer engineers, etc.

Today, SOS Children's Villages Benin positively impacts the lives of 3,644 children who are cared for by 204 employees," he added. At the end of his speech, Mr ISSIFOU congratulated the government on its achievements in the field of childcare and thanked all the stakeholders who made it possible to renew the SOS Children's Villages Benin Headquarters Agreement.
Following the National Director, His Excellency Mr. Hervé Dadjèdji DJOKPE, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, spoke in these terms: "SOS Children's Villages Benin is a social development organization that through various services supports children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care and families in difficulty. An interministerial commission went down to the ground to see the quality work done by SOS Children's Villages Benin. Today's announcement has enabled the government to renew the headquarters agreement with SOS Children's Villages Benin, as its activities are consistent with the government's action plan." The renewal ceremony of the headquarters agreement ended after a cocktail party.
