Good school results for children in SOS families!

03 Aug 2017
It is the end of the school year 2016-2017 in Benin. The results of the end-year national exams are already known. SOS Children's Village Abomey-Calavi has presented candidates for the Primary School Certificate, the Ordinary level (junior secondary) exam and the Baccalaureate. They all passed and it was with joy that some among them expressed their feelings. ISOS Children's Villages responds to the situation of children who are at risk of losing parental care or who have already lost it. In SOS families in Abomey-Calavi, many children are admitted because they have lost parental care. As such, they find a new mother, new brothers and sisters, a new home and a new child friendly environment. Beyond the care provided to these children so that they can become good human beings, SOS Children’s Villages also focuses on education. Every year, many children under the care of thee SOS Children’s Village sit for State exams. This year also, all of them have passed! Each year, the results are similar. This is an indication of the quality work done by SOS Children’s Village Abomey-Calavi when it comes to child care. Among these recipients, we have Reine Gloria who passed the scientific baccalaureate and Nathalie who passed the Ordinary level (junior secondary) exam. The two girls expressed their feelings as follows.

"My name is Reine Gloria. I was admitted to SOS Children's Village since my childhood because I had lost parental care. I have done all my schooling with the support of SOS Children’s Village. Today, I passed the baccalaureate. I am happy about this achievement. I can only thank all those who contributed to this success. As for my university studies, I would like to pursue medical studies. It's a job that has always fascinated me. The way medical doctors welcome patients; their desire to cure them and to give them the joy of living fosters my choice to become a medical doctor. It is a noble profession in the service of humanity."

After the baccalaureate graduate, it was the turn of Nathalie who has been living in an SOS family for 8 years: "SOS Children’s Village offered me the emotional stability I needed after losing my parental care. I did my studies without any significant difficulties. I easily passed the primary school certificate four years ago. I’ve just passed the Ordinary level (junior secondary) exam. That is why, on behalf of all my siblings and I who live in the SOS families and who have passed the various exams, I warmly thank the SOS stakeholders at various levels. I also thank all those who help the organization through donations and sponsorships." It is with these words of gratitude and hope that Nathalie ended up the expression of her feelings.
